The Research

  • Within 60 seconds: Leads called within 60 seconds converted 391% above average (Velocify, formerly Leads360). (primary report). This is an industry benchmark, not a Novacall AI customer result.
  • Within an hour: companies that tried to contact a lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it as those that waited longer (Harvard Business Review, 2011).

How this calculator works

The calculator compares your current response time with a reply in under 60 seconds, using the conversion gains the Leads360 study reported for each response-time band. The result is an illustrative estimate, not a forecast and not a Novacall AI result.

  1. Customers you get per month = monthly leads × your lead-to-customer rate.
  2. Leads360 reports how much better leads convert than the average lead when first called within each band (table below). Each band becomes a multiplier: 1 + the reported gain.
  3. Estimated rate at under 60 seconds = your rate × (the within-1-minute multiplier ÷ the multiplier for your band), capped at 100%.
  4. The gap = estimated customers − customers you get, times your average deal value. The annual figure is 12 times the monthly one.

Assumptions: your leads respond to speed the way the Leads360 sample of several million internet leads did, every lead is reached, and every customer is worth the same. Any of these may not hold for your business, so treat the result as a way to size the question, not as a projection.

Source: Leads360 (now Velocify), Beyond Qualification: The impact of speed on lead conversion rates, based on several million internet-generated leads. This is an industry benchmark, not a Novacall AI customer result. Response times are matched to the first band they fit: 1 minute, 2 minutes, 3 minutes, up to 30 minutes, up to 1 hour, then up to 24 hours.

Harvard Business Review reported the same direction: firms that tried to contact a lead within an hour were nearly seven times as likely to qualify it as firms that tried an hour later (HBR, 2011). It is cited for context; the estimate uses only the Leads360 figures. Every figure, with its sample and wording, is in the speed-to-lead statistics.

How to measure your real speed to lead

  1. Export a month of leads with two timestamps: when the inquiry arrived and when the first reply went out.
  2. Take the median gap, not the average, so one lead left over a weekend does not hide the rest.
  3. Split it by lead source, by hour of day, and by business hours versus evenings and weekends.
  4. Count leads reached and booked in each band, then put your real response time and rate into the calculator above.

Speed to lead calculator FAQ

How accurate is this speed to lead calculator?

It gives an illustrative estimate, not a forecast. It applies the Leads360 benchmark ratios to your own lead volume, lead-to-customer rate and deal value, and assumes your leads respond to speed the way the Leads360 sample did. Use it to size the question, then measure your own response times.

Where do the benchmark numbers come from?

From the Leads360 (now Velocify) white paper Beyond Qualification, based on several million internet-generated leads. Leads called within 60 seconds converted 391% above average (Velocify, formerly Leads360). This is an industry benchmark, not a Novacall AI customer result.

What is a good speed to lead?

Under five minutes, and under one minute where you can. In the InsideSales.com and MIT study, the odds of qualifying a lead fell 21 times when the first call came at 30 minutes instead of 5.

Is this estimate a Novacall AI result?

No. The calculator uses third-party research only. Novacall AI replies to new leads in under 60 seconds, 24/7, but this estimate is not a promise of what any product will do for your business.
